Some Green Fins members have not been able to go through their annual assessment process due to the coronavirus outbreak. An inactive status does not mean they are not operational and we suggest you get in touch with the Green Fins member directly and ask if they are open for business. The Green Fins teams will be doing all they can to reassess members in their respective countries as soon as it is possible and safe to do so.

Green Fins was implemented in Malaysia in 2009 and was managed by The Department of Marine Parks Malaysia. It was rejuvenated in 2014 with the involvement of Reef Check Malaysia and the training of 4 local assessors by Reef-World on Tioman Island.  In 2015 Green Fins was extended to Perhentian Island, Redang Island and Sabah.

The National Management Team is now successfully being ran as a partnership between the DMPM and Reef Check Malaysia, a unique recipe for the Green Fins national management infrastructure. Together they hope to promote the programme to all major diving destinations around the country to inspire sustainability within the marine tourism sector for the growing number of tourists coming to Asia.
